Heh, a self proclaimed "black Republican" group is trying to woo black voters away from Obama. Because black Republicans are so popular in the black community.

This would be the same black Republican group that tried to claim, during the 2006 Senate race in Maryland, that Martin Luther King was a Republican (false) and that Democrats were the party of Jim Crow (true but irrelevant today). Still classy as ever. At the risk of turning the blog into "Ask a Black Dude" (I'm white), I want to ask: Is it possible to be an intellectually honest black Republican? Black conservatism, as you've written, is a substantial part of African-American life. But it seems like black Republicans are a perpetual novelty.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
Someone on the TPM thread suggested that this is really aimed at whites. But on the surface, it looks like it's a cleaned-up and more strategic version of the kind of voter suppression tactics that have been seen in other recent elections. The short version of the first ad would be, I guess: the Democrats are racist. YOU KNOW we are racist. Why vote?
